Nate Lambert wins the first Holdem Northwest Standard Tournament

Fifty one players showed up at noon on Saturday, September 26, 2009 for the First Regular Tournament of Holdem Northwest, held at The Greek Village.

All players began with the same starting stack of 10,000 chips, and battled for more than five hours until NATE LAMBERT emerged as the victor. The field was a mix of veterans, newcomers, west-siders, east-siders, and players from at least four different leagues. All are welcome at Holdem Northwest!

One popular feature was the string of single-table satellite games, which started as a table opened up and eight players who had been knocked out of the main tournament wanted to play. Five games were played, with the winners each getting 80 points in the standings. Some players played in more than one! So many players stayed for the additional games, that the party atmosphere remained at high pitch, and there were many present to cheer on their favorites at the Final Table. Some were disappointed to watch Nate “The Statistical Outlier” Lambert eliminate Erin “The Queen of Darkness” Jurovitch with 7 – 2 off-suit, but the crowd applauded the strong play of all at the finish.

Thanks to the Greek Village for hosting this event, and for scheduling Debbie, the hardest working server on our circuit! And thanks to all of players for making this tournament a success.
