| To all poker leagues and card rooms in the greater Portland metropolitan area: |
| We have noticed that every league and card room claims to have the “Best” or “Finest” games and poker players. We say: |
| LET'S FIND OUT. |
| The best way to settle the issue is to gather the best of the best and play a poker tournament. We propose a team tournament, held at a location licensed to accept cash buy-ins and to pay cash prizes. Of course, the bragging rights will be worth more to the winners than the money. |
| Date and Time: Saturday, April 24, 2010
Registration: 11:00 a.m. Start: Noon |
| Team Eligibility: Teams will consist of eight players, and must be sponsored by an entity that has a web site and offers Texas Holdem poker games to the general public. This includes free poker leagues and card rooms licensed under Oregon’s social gaming law. |
| The Scoring: As each player goes out, they will receive points equal to the place in which they finish. If 64 players play, the first out will receive 64 points, the second out will receive 63 points, and so on. The winner receives one point. The team with the lowest total score will be the winner. |
| The Cost: The entry fee is $200 per team, or $25 per player. |
| Location: The Beaverton Card Room 3800 SW Cedar Hills Blvd, Suite #260 Beaverton, Oregon 97005 (located just north of TV Highway, behind the Blue Iguana, on the second floor of the BG Plaza Building.) |
| The Prizes: The prizes depend on the number of entrants.
Five dollars from each entry fee will be awarded to the team of the winning player, to be divided as it decides. $20 from each entry fee will be the prize pool. Prizes will depend on the number of entries, and will be announced prior to the tournament. The Beaverton Card Room has generously waived its usual $10 daily entry fee. Holdem Northwest and the Beaverton Card Room are presenting this tournament without charge of any kind. 100% of the entry fees will be paid out to the winners. |
| The Format: Players from each team will be distributed as evenly as possible at tables of eight players. If eight teams accept the challenge, there will be one player from each team at each table. As players are eliminated, tables will be broken down according to standard tournament play, until the final table remains |
| Chipstack: T8,000, no rebuys. |
| Blinds: 100/200 to start. Blinds will be 20 minutes long, advancing to 200/400, 400/800, 500/1,000, 1,000/2,000, 2,000/4,000, 4,000/8,000, 5,000/10,000, and doubling after that. |
| Breaks: 10 minutes long, after the 3rd blind, and every two blinds after that. |
| Trophy: The winning team will receive a pretty good, non-plastic trophy, suitably engraved. Additional swag to be determined. |
| The Best Part:
By entering the tournament, each team agrees to place a photograph of the winner and an announcement of the results on its website home page for at least one week. (It is anticipated that the photograph may be on the winner’s site for a little longer…) |
| Registration: Pre-registration is required, not later than April 24, 2010. To register, contact Darby with the name of your team, a list of the players, and contact information. Last minute substitutions for players who are unable to attend will be permitted. |
